U.S. Department of Defense

In 1971 I was trained on the U.S. Air Force F-106(A) Delta Dart at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.  Before I married my wife in 1985 I took her on vacation to Colorado Springs driving up to the base.  Lowry was later decommissioned but areas were retained becoming the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.

...I would eventually find myself climbing several Directorates at the Naval Sea Systems Command including the Submarine Directorate at the start of the Trident submarine program...and later leading me to work with a great team at SWFLANT

The cornerstone of the Trident (Ohio class) submarine was the D5 missile at the center of the rocket display.  While I was there they added the Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM - submarine launched cruise missile)

This photo shows the size of the TLAM and at 5'7 I reached the heaviest size I had ever been.
