Space Station FREEDOM (1980's)

Space Station FREEDOM was envisioned in the 1980's as a sole U.S.A. investment.  Freedom's duel keel design would have dwarfed the current International Space Station (ISS).  By the time Freedom was cancelled several modules were under construction (later retrofitted to ISS specifications) and Freedom had undergone massive downsizing.

I worked on the Freedom's TMIS program (Boeing) until Congress terminated its funding.   This image is one of the few concept designs I had in my files (drawing credited to NASA).
